Plantain grows wild all around us here in NY. I often ask the guys nicely not to mow certain sections of the lawn where there are nice thick batches of Plantain growing.
Plantain is such a wonderful plant that offers therapeutic properties and is often used to draw out splinters, stingers, thorns, infections, pus, and other objects like glass and dirt or poisons from insects and even snakes. I would still seek immediate medical attention, though- if I was to be bitten by a poisonous snake.
We typically reserve our Plantain Salve for insect stings and bites and any time we need to draw something out of the skin, such as a splinter or infection.
